When your pet is ill, you want to find out what's wrong as soon as possible so you can help them get better. However, it's not always clear why a pet is sick or what medical issues they may be facing at first glance. At the West Market Veterinary Hospital in Greensboro, we provide a wide variety of diagnostic services that allow us to gather as much information as possible about your pet's illness or medical condition so our Greensboro veterinarian can determine the best course of treatment.
Often, pets are injured and may be suffering from a broken or fractured bone, especially if the pet was hit by a vehicle. Our radiology department has the ability to take x-rays with an automatic processor, allowing our staff to obtain x-ray images on-site. X-rays can help diagnose or rule out many conditions that can cause acute pain in pets.
We also have an on site laboratory that allows us to process blood, stool, and urine samples, as well as perform other tests like EKG's and tonometry. These tests can help reveal harder to diagnose issues through the evaluation of organ function, white and red blood cell counts, clotting function, electrolyte levels, and blood pressure, to name a few. Our in-house blood analyzer and cytology equipment can reveal instances of intestinal parasites, heartworms, feline leukemia, FIV, parvo, and many other diseases that require prompt treatment. With most testing, results are available within 15-45 minutes, however, we are also available to order more in-depth testing and have it evaluated by an off-site facility that picks up samples from our office daily.
Pet Dental Care
Keeping your pet's teeth and gums healthy is important and the West Market Veterinary Hospital offers complete dental care services. We provide pets with comprehensive dental cleanings, but we also discuss ways to prevent the need for cleanings by keeping the animal's mouth healthy. This can be done through a combination of techniques, including regular brushing of the pet's teeth, oral rinses, water additives, safe and natural oral sprays, and even treats designed to clean your pet's teeth as they chew.
Fully Equipped Animal Hospital
In some cases, animals are very ill and need to stay at an animal hospital throughout the day for observation and treatment. We utilize the latest veterinary technology and our hospitalized patients are kept in the main treatment area to ensure they are under a watchful eye at all times. For animals who need more specialized care or are at risk of infecting other animals, we have an isolation unit. However, we are not a critical care facility and do not provide overnight care. If your pet requires a hospital stay lasting one or more nights, we can refer you to a specialty animal hospital equipped to provide overnight treatment.
